Savvy Press is proud to announce that author Ellen Larson's short story, "When the Apricots Bloom" will appear in Alfred Hitchock's Mystery Magazine, in the July/August edition (available in May).
The short story is a mystery set in Egypt, where Larson lived for fifteen years. "Of course I drew upon my experiences and observations for the story," says Larson, "but mainly for the little things--the sounds, the mannerisms of the people, and the slow pace of life. The title is an Egyptian saying that means, more or less, 'never' or 'in your dreams.' This is because apricot trees are thought to bloom rarely in Egypt."
Afred Hitchock's Mystery Magazine can be found in local bookstores and stationery stores. It is also available on-line and as a Kindle book.
This is Larson's second short story to be set in Egypt. The first, published by Gowanusbooks.com in 1999, called "Bridges and Trees," is about the life of an Egyptian policeman whose job it is to stand on the same street corner for many years. It can be read here.
